How to Change Your I/O Buffer Size
So here’s a fun topic…
Well it might not be fun but its useful. I can’t really show you how to do it in any and all DAW’s. But I can give the basic run down in Logic and Pro Tools, and it really ought to be about the same process in any other program.
Logic:
1) Access the Audio Preferences window by selecting [File > Preferences > Audio...]

Selecting Audio Preferences Window in Logic.
2) You should get a little window popping up with the I/O buffer size menu near the top.

The Audio Preferences Window in Logic. The Buffer Size menu is Selected.
3) Choose your desired buffer size (Read how to choose a buffer size here). And don’t forget to hit “Apply Changes”.

Don't forget to click this!
Logic will then prompt you to restart the audio engine, and then you’re done. You have successfully changed your I/O buffer size.
Pro Tools:
1) Access your Playback Settings by selecting [Setup > Playback Engine]

Accessing the Playback Settings in Pro Tools.
2) The I/O buffer size menu is located at the top of the pop-up window.

The I/O Buffer Size menu in Pro Tools.
3) Choose your desired buffer size (Read how to choose a buffer size here). Hit “OK” to close the window and save your changes. Now you’ve successfully changed your I/O buffer size.
wOOt.
