Video Plug from Synthtopia: Sound Lab Mini-Synth
Great video of a little synth reviewed more thoroughly over on Synthtopia. I don’t know about you, but I love knobs and buttons.
I’m an avid Synthtopia reader, and these guys never seem to disappoint in the knobs and button category. I could see how this little box might appeal to a slimmer portion of the music world, but even if it isn’t your cup-o-tea definitely check out the video and other analog synths like this.
A lot of creative people are doing new and innovative things out there, and I think even for purists of particular genres there are things to be learned from all over the industry.
Anyway, I digress – my main point is cool things are cool for any number of reasons: knobs, buttons, faders, meters, LEDs, VUs, etc. But this little box is especially cool because it’s like a cog or gear more than a whole music production system. It’s a unit that can open up lots of new possibilities and sounds in a lot of different studio setups. I think those are the most exciting pieces of gear I’ve ever bought – the ones that let me use my other gear in new ways.
So check it out please, and head over to Synthtopia if you get the chance, because they’re awesome!
