The folks at uCApps.de have built quite a substantial resource for those smart/hard-working enough to build their own MIDI devices. The projects range from synths to sequencers, arpeggiators to full-blown MIDI consoles with faders and pots.

There’s a Wiki, forums, search, and even an inside look at finished projects and stuff still being worked on.
