In the Studio with Steve Angello

Steve Angello & Pete Tong
Steve Angello is 1/3 of the Swedish House Mafia, probably one of the biggest House production groups in the free world. Future Music did a video called “In the Studio: Creating a Track from Scratch with Steve Angello” and, I must say, it’s pretty good. You get exactly what the title says: watch Mr. Angello create a track from the beginning to the very end.
A nice talking point taken from the first video is Steve’s choice to throw EQ and compression on the master channel while creating a track so that he doesn’t have to get it mastered. How many more artists do this? I’d be interested to know.

Whats software is that he’s using?
Sanjay got it. It’s Logic Pro 7.
based on the midi editing window, that looks like logic to me.
Could anyone tell me what’s the vst he’s using for the noise (used on the hi hats)?
@Dingo:
He’s actually using one of Logic’s built in synths, ESP for the hi-hats.
@Ben
On a side note could you recommend me a good vst for working with noise (white noise and such) for use with Live 8?
@Diogo:
For Live 8, you should check out the MDA plug-in pack. It’s got a signal generator (VST) which you can use inside Live. Haven’t used it, but I can say that the MDA plug-ins are generally pretty good.
