AES 2009: Endless Analog CLASP
While Sanjay and I write a lot about entry/mid-level gear, our hearts are really with the high-end, super fancy gear. AES is a great time because of it: we can talk to people about gear that most of our readers are into while at the same time seeing and touching things that we’ll never be able to get our grubby mitts on (i.e. the 48-input API Vision at this year’s show). One of the coolest pieces of high-end tech we saw today is the Endless Analog CLASP: Closed Loop Audio Signal Processor.
This piece of gear integrates your old analog tape machine into your DAW-centered studio without any sort of interruption to your digital workflow. The flow of it is this: your signal goes onto your tape and from the tape into your DAW so fast that Endless Analog promises you won’t even notice. Could this be the perfect analog to digital marriage?
Did I mention that Endless Analog also announced that CLASP now works with Pro Tools 8? Well, it does. And EA even did it with the blessing of Digidesign.
Sanjay and I will be visiting the booth tomorrow for a demo and we’ll be sure to share our experience with everyone.
